Cards Finish First in Conference
The year 1985-86 will definitely be a season to remember in the minds of the players as many records were set and many goal were accomplished. as a team, the Cardinals had a season record of 22-4, the best ever in the history of WHS. Among individuals, Scott Owens set a record of Best Free Throw Percentage in a season (.853).

The Cardinals placed third at the Conrad Allen Holiday Tournament at Wayne City, where Aaron Mays and Scott Owens made the All Tournament team. Furthermore, the Cardinals took second place at the Nashville Invitational Tournament, where Scott Owens was chosen for the All Tournament team. Scott Owens was also picked for the Southern Illinois Coaches Association All South Team, and he was chosen as an All State Honorable Mention.

In the conference, the Cardinals finished 10-0 stealing first place for the second consecutive year. Aaron Mays and Scott Owens were among those chosen for the All Conference Team.
